Multimedia design

At the age of 14 I fell in love. Not with a girl, but with the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop. As a kid I was really amazed about what you could do with these programs and I created various forms of art and decided to study multimedia design at college. Although photoshopping was my first call to the wild, I later became interested in other programmes and modalities for communication.

In 2006 I was awarded the 2nd place of the Expose your Talent contest and went to Rotterdom for a video-production course, which was quite interesting and inspired me to experiment with video productions. This resulted in a wide variety of productions. Since I really like sports, I made many sports videos for my local Waterski- and Wakeboard association. Some of my recent work

In the past few months I published my first book and decided to design the coverwork for the book myself. As you can see below, I was inspired by Bitcoins use of computer hardware and decided to style my book using an iconic style. The central square with the ‘V” on it represents a CPU -a computer part- while the blue lines represent datalanes on the PCB of a motherboard. This makes the design of the book recognizable for those who like to learn more about computing and really fits the theme of cryptocurrency.

I also recently updated the branding and webdesign of my news platform called Nieuwsframes.nl, which I think now communicates a great universal style. The idea behind the new webdesign is that Niewsframes delivers news from the universe and that the website should visualize the cosmic road of journalism. I think the design looks pretty and is fitting. For Nieuwsframes I also developed and deployed a smart App, which you can download from the Google Play Store.

Now you have seen some of my recent work you probably wonder where this all comes from. Well, I was fortunate enough to have many experiences that enable me to be a multimedia designer. In the past 16 years I’ve worked as an instructor at the Hanzehogeschool Groningen and teached students how to work with the Adobe Creative Suite. I used these skills for a variety of goals, like the creation of videos, branding materials like logo’s, webdesign, websites, landingpages, social media memes and even comics.
